Grow in the Situation Under His Shade

1 Corinthians 7:17  Let each one live his/her life in the situation the Lord assigned when God called him/her.

Have you ever been in a situation?  Are you in a situation now?

Situation in the greek: To walk, to conduct oneself, to live.  Describing unfinished, continous, or repeated past actions, rather than completed.

In the today’s venacular a “situation” has a bad vibe to it. But in the bible, it just means your walk, you living life.  Not only that, but the Lord has assigned you to the life you are living when He called you.    Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

The Lord has assigned you to this “situation”. You are where you are meant to be.  Jesus knows the past, present, and future.  He can see all three at the same time.  We cannot.  You are right where you need to be.  Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

Are you single?  You are where you are supposed to be.  Are you married? Are you raising small babies and if feels like that is the only thing you are doing?  Right where you are supposed to be.  Empty Nesters?  Widowed? Divorced? Still right where you need to be.

Despite our actions: whether we were in his will or stepped out of his will, you are right where you are supposed to be. Philippians 2:13 For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose.

God knows everything.

Our past, present, and future.

Unfortunately, we do not.

Hebrews 6:17 Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath. 2 Timothy 1:9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Beware: You are not meant to stay in the spot you are in right now.  We are moving from glory to glory.  2 Corinthians 3:18 We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

We have got to be growing.  2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity

Can you feel or physically see yourself grow?  No, you can’t, but what you should see is the fruit of your growing.  1 Corinthians 3:7 So, then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

Not seeing any fruit? Titus 3:14 Let our people learn to devote themselves to good works for pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.

These are the three things we must have to grow.

Are you in good soil?  (planted in the Church) Ephesians 4: 15-16 But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head—Christ. From Him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part.

Are you getting good light (spending time under the Son) Psalm 1:2-3 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.

Are you getting watered (reading the Word of God)? John 7:38 The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him.” Joshua 1:8 This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.

Have you ever gone outside and the sun is really beaming down on you and it’s hot.  But you get under a shade tree and violá.  It feels great out!  Did the sun stop shining?  Has the overall temperature of the environment changed?  No.  You are under the shade tree.

So when are you single, divorced, widowed, empty nester and lonely? Jesus is the shade tree

If you are married and frustrated with your partner?  Jesus is the shade tree for both of you.

Raising children and you feel as though they have nothing left to give?  Jesus is the shade tree.

Any circumstance you are facing in which you feel as though it is a “situation” and that you are not living life as you should?

Get under that shade tree (Jesus).

Ephesians 1:9 He made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he purposed in Christ.  Ephesians 1:11 In him we have also received an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works out everything in agreement with the purpose of his will,

I don’t know how many times in my life I thought to myself: Well, I guess this is my life.  I will struggle with this forever.  I will always be lonely.  We will always be fighting.  I will always be drained from everything I pour into my children.

The only thing I should “always” be in, is in the shadow of the Almighty.

Guess what? Each of these situations is a season in life.

Acts 3:20 that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah.

The Lord has assigned you to the situation you are in right now.  Get under his shade and you will eventually  grow into another season.

Did you know that complaining has never changed not one situation in the history of situations? Philippians 2:14 Do everything without grumbling and arguing

It’s not about the situation/circumstances you are living in; You will always live in a situation. Situation is life and the particular situation you are in right now has been assigned to you.

Get out from the scorching heat and GET UNDER THE SHADE!

Psalm 91:1-3 The one who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say concerning the Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.
