Undivided Attention

Does the Holy Spirit have your undivided attention?

Full and Complete Attention

When you choose to speak to him, to meditate on Him, He gives you His undivided attention.  That is hard to come by in this world.  It is difficult to give others our undivided attention more or less someone or something giving us their undivided attention.

Psalm 86:11 Teach me your way; Lord and I will live by your truth.  Give me an undivided mind to fear your name.

And how miraculous it is that I can have the Holy Spirit’s undivided attention at the same exact time you have His undivided attention.  He (the Holy Spirit) is literally waiting for you to give him a glimpse or any sign that you are listening to Him. That you acknowledge Him.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

It is not as hard as you think it is to give the Holy Spirit your undivided attention.  It can be in a moment where you take a minute to recognize and acknowledge: I am a child of God.  I am filled with His spirit.  Jesus Loves me and I love him.  I chose to walk in the spririt today and not in the flesh.

That’s it.  You have given the Holy Spirit your undivided attention for as long as it takes to say the 32 words I just wrote.  I timed it.  It takes 9.63 seconds of undivided attention to recognize the creator of the world. To acknowledge your Savior.

Psalme 15:1-2 Lord, who can dwell in your tent?  Who can live on your holy mountain?  The one who lives blamelessly, practices righteousness, and acknowledges the truth in his heart-

God is so worthy of our undivided attention.  We as mothers, wives, women pride ourselves on the fact that we can multi-task.

Every minute you think about Jesus and give thanks or bring a petition to him, it counts.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 Pray constantly give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Every time you feel worry come up in your mind and heart, find a scripture to meditate on.  Take your worries to him, even if it is just for a minute.

1 Peter 5:7 casting all your cares in Him, because he cares for you.

Soon you will realize that for the most part, you have walked through your entire day meditating on Him.

Psalm 1:2 Instead, his delight in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.

Intentional thinking takes practice.  The Holy Spirit is totally vested in you.  In your success.  Trust Him to remind you that He is as close to you as your heart is in your chest.

Deuteronomy 30:14 But the message is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may follow it.

You will be surprised at how this habit will change your general well being.  He quicken (revitalize) our mortal bodies.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.(KJV)

So a potential revoluntionary development in your life can be when you take idle time and transform it into intentional time with Jesus.  What does that mean?  Stop coasting through life.  Stop going through the motions.  Make every hour count towards the time and energy you spend.

Are you waiting in a lobby for your appointment?  Read your word, meditate on Him.

Gotta go grocery shopping?  Put your earbuds in and listen to worship while you shop.

Are you waiting in line to pick up the kids at school?  Read a scripture or two.  Do a 10-minute devotional.  There are tons of devotional free apps available.  Some will send you daily scripture texts.

Long road trip for work?  Listen to a christian podcast, choose to listen to something that will edify you and help you to focus on Him.

Psalm 27:8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Ok so what if you up the ante? Spend actual sit down, take a beat, and really carve out time for Jesus.  This is when you see a transformative breakthrough in your life.  Maybe in the early morning? Or Late at night before you go to bed?   Maybe during your lunch? Or how about when the kids go to bed?  Some days you won’t be able to and that is ok. Jesus knows what your life looks like and His grace is always sufficient for us.

Don’t beat yourself up over this.  Jesus is fully aware you have x amount of responsibilities and x amount of time in your life.  There will be seasons where being intentional in a moment here and a moment there is all you have time for.  And that is OK.

Galatians 6:7 Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. (even if it is just a few minutes here and there. Every little bit counts)

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great hidden things that you have not known.

Give him a little of your undivided attention and you will never regret it.

Because you will always have His undivided attention.
